I happen to look at Yahoo’s page tonight and noticed the top searches for the day:

Grammys

Joel Osteen

Foo Fighters

 Amber Alert

 Amy Winehouse

Abraham Lincoln

Mortgage Calculator

Taryn Manning

Cher

 Asparagus Recipes

There isn’t anything different about the searches that is out of the ordinary from what I’ve seen on yahoo’s page before, but it’s just another example of what the general public thinks about. The only good search I see on there is Abraham Lincoln and Mortgage Calculator. Other than that, the searches are a definite inside clue of the general public’s thoughts. While there are many more important things going on in the world, some dope is searching for information about Winehouse. Do you see any searches up there for diet, or fitness, or how a law is made, or financial queries? Of course not. The Foo Fighters are much more important to the general public. All you have to do is look at the searches and you will understand why the high fructose corn syrup industry does so well and why most people still believe Oswald acted completely on his own and it was his own plan to shoot Kennedy.

So when it comes to personal development, if you are going to spend time online searching for things, why not search and read about things that will enrich you? If you are going to do any reading, you might as well read about the things that can enhance your life. Peforming searches like most of the ones listed above will only waste your life just that much more. Heck, why isn’t Jesus Christ ever in that top 10? Go figure.
