Kicking Sugar Addiction

food16.gif   A lot of people that will read articles on sugar and sugar addiction will usually wonder what the big deal is about it. About 99% of the general public will buy food at the grocery store with absolutely no knowledge of what they are buying. First instance, the other day I saw a new food item appear on the shelves at the store. It was a can of mixed nuts and dried fruits, and had a label on it called “Digestive Health”. I thought, “How great. Now let’s take a look at what is really in it.” So when I read the contents on the back of the can, it of course listed high fructose corn syrup as one of the ingredients. So basically, the label in this can is a lie, or at least misleading. For anyone concerned about digestive health, my opinion would be to stay the heck away from anything with so much as a trace of high fructose corn syrup, otherwise known at “liquid satan”.

So again, what is the big deal? You see, people who are aware that they consume too much sugar or want to reduce the amount they ingest, need to view it differently. The refined sugar that is put into food products is poison.  It is processed, refined, bleached, and extremely potent.  This is very hazardous to your body and can cause an addiction similar to being addicted to drugs.  But the point is that the companies that put this stuff into food do it for that very purpose.  They want you to become addicted. They can careless about your health and would rather you put money into their pockets while you eat their addictive poison.  So instead of just viewing sugar as something you just want to cut down on or as a diet you are trying, view it as not wanting to put a dollar towards a company that sees us as animals.  There is no exageration here. The people that sit on the boards of the corporations that pump food full of high fructose corn syrup and refined sugar, see you as nothing more than an animal. They want you to love the taste of their food, they want you to become addicted to it, and they want your addiction to cause you to become a paying lifetime member of their food product. They can flat careless if what you eat rots your teeth, gives you cancer, causes you to become obese, causes mental disorders, causes your child to become autistic, causes you to develop diabetes, causes heart disease, shortens your life, or causes you to become addicted.  So I encourage you to ALWAYS read the labels on the back of foods that you buy.  Do not buy anything that has sugar, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup solids, or evaporated cane juice. Typically the most well known name brand products will always include one of these harmful ingredients into their product.

If anything, if you are looking to reduce your sugar consumption, always be conscious of what you are buying. If once a week if you want to eat something that has some refined sugar, and it only accounts for a few grams or a little more, then I think that’s fine. What you want to avoid is eating the crap every day to the point where it adds up to large quantities. Everyone always has an example of a relative that lived to be 100 and they smoked and ate sugar, but on the other side of the coin, there are just too many examples of the opposite occurring.  So if you want to help yourself curb your sugar addiction, then change your viewpoint.  See the sugar as a money trap. Because it really is. That’s why it was put into your food.  It is cheap and it makes money. Also view your diet as eating what God put on this earth for you to eat.  God didn’t put high fructose corn syrup or refined sugar onto this earth pre-made for you to ingest.  That stuff has to be produced by humans. Eat what God made, not what some global elite had processed in a factory to make a buck off of you then turn around and use your buck to pay their CEO another million dollar bonus.  What you will find is that if you eliminate sugar from your diet completely and only get your sugar from fruit or slow digesting carbs such as brown rice or whole grains, then if you ever do have a cheat day and eat something with refined sugar, it will taste very very sweet and you won’t be able to eat as much as you did before.   And on a side note, pay very careful attention to any bread that you buy.  Most of it is refined, and just about all of it either has high fructose corn syrup or even sucralose in it.  Look for a whole grained bread with no high fructose corn syrup or sucralose.

So remember, change your viewpoint, and it will become easier to kick the habit because you will fully understand the true meaning of avoiding liquid satan.  And as a result, you just might notice a reduction in your waistline as well as your blood pressure.
