Simple Steps to Increase Blog Traffic

Here are some simple steps to take if you want to see an increase in blog traffic:

1. Join BlogRush. It will give you the opportunity to be seen on any other blogs that belong to BlogRush.

2. Join the MyBlogLog community. The cool thing about this is when you visit someone elses page and they have the “Recent Readers” widget installed, your community thumbnail will be automatically shown because your IP Address is seen at their site. This can give you a linkback.

3. Use TagGenie social bookmarking site. With this tool you can submit your articles to a huge number of article sites such as Digg and Reddit.

4. Try and use headlines on your posts that would be highly searched for on Search Engines.

5. Try to link to other posts on your site from within posts that contain keywords or terms that are relevant to the post you are linking to. Search Engine Algorithms do see this placing more relevance on the information you have written about, placing you higher in the SEO searches.

6. Of course post comments on other peoples sites.

7. Update your blog daily.

8. If you do write a new post, then be sure to visit PingoMatic after doing so.

9.  And don’t use this IAmSoOverMe.com blog as a perfect example because I am all over the place when it comes to what I write about which is why the steps above have helped me.  Sticking to one subject matter (niche) will give your blog more visibility.  (I’m still trying to discover my niche)

I’m sure there are lots more others because I am still learning myself.

What I have been finding out is unless you have a buddy that owns a high traffic site that you can link off of, or a friend that codes at GOOGLE, or have venture capital with other people blogging for you 24/7, then it actually does take hard work, time, and blog maturity.  Search Engines like Google have made it this way to make things legitimate, which is a good thing.  It levels the playing field more when it comes to earning your way into the SEO rankings.
