This might be quite off the beaten path of how the world works, but when it comes to people and houses, there is always one factor that is always involved when someone’s home is all trashed up: a dog. When I was in the market for a house a couple of years ago and was looking at a lot of homes, just about every home or short sale home I saw that was trashed up, the people living there always owned a big dog. Dogs can ruin homes, that’s for sure.
Now, this is one thing I never understood about some people and dogs. I was watching the Dog Whisperer one evening and witnessed a woman’s dog urinate on the carpet because it was excited. Apparently, the dog does this constantly. I’ve seen other people’s dogs throughout my lifetime urinate and crap on the carpet in their house as well. When this happens, the owners just cleaned the carpet as if a drink was spilled and that was that. I never understood this mentality of viewing animal waste as something cleaner than human waste. What if I were to come over to your house and take a leak and then crap on your carpet? You’d probably have your carpet removed immediately wouldn’t you? Why is it any different for a dog to do it? What makes it cleaner? It’s always been my opinion that once a dog does something on the carpet in your home, the carpet is ruined. For a dog, or a cat, to go to the bathroom on your carpet, is no different than another human relieving themselves on your carpet. Whatever is put onto the carpet immediately penetrates to the padding. It stays there forever until it dries on its own.
So that’s my two cents for the day. People seem to think what comes out of a dog, even slobber, is somehow cleaner than another human’s bodily secretions. They are both hazardous as far as I’m concerned. When it comes to how the world works, this definitely one thing about some people that has always puzzled me.
