Have you even wondered why you were alive, or where we came from, or what meaning your life had? Although it should be a no-brainer, most of us haven’t realized the simple fact that your life does in fact have purpose. The fact that you are a self, a soul, observing things from your own perspective behind your own eyes clearly shows that giving you life was no mistake and that you didn’t just happen to pop up on earth for no reason. There was obviously a decision and an intention by another force or higher power for you to be here. It’s that plain and simple.
Every day, remember not to get too far ahead of yourself. Most of us drift through the day on autopilot reacting to things through emotions and fulfilling our addictions, all the while completely forgetting that you have a purpose to be here on earth and you are much more important than you think. But it’s up to you to decide if you want to live with purpose or not. If you decide to, you can very well live a life of no purpose if you wanted. On the other end of the spectrum, it is also true that you can live a life with purpose. You can make a difference. You can decide to be important. You have the power to do that. It’s called free will.
Exercise your free will and be conscious of it. At this point, once you become conscious of the fact that you are truly deciding for yourself what action you are going to take with something, is the moment you fully realize that it was no mistake that you are here. Granted, each of us has different talents and skills. And some of us might not have talent or skill for anything. There have been plenty of times where I thought that of myself. I’ve come to plenty of points in my own life where I really wondered if I had any exceptional ability to do anything. The fact of the matter was that I was pretty much plain average, at best, at everything I tried from sports, to academics, to social networking, etc.. And yet on the other hand, just about anyone that I could think of around me seem to have a special talent or skill for something. Everyone seemed to be good at something. So what did I decide? I decided to be good at whatever I chose to do. That’s right. You don’t need talent or skills. If you have an occupation that you don’t quite enjoy, you can still decide to be good at it in the meantime that you are working that occupation. You do this by simply doing what you know is right. I think each of us knows what it takes, or what qualities someone has that makes them good at what they do, and you can decide to mimic, or execute those qualities. One way to start this is to ask yourself one question over and over. But first, think of someone that you know is good at what you do. Once you think of someone, then anytime you are about to perform a task, just ask yourself, “What would Jim, or what would Sheila do?” “How would Jack go about this?”. Maybe Jack is very detailed oriented, and really takes his time to dot his i’s and cross his t’s. So, when doing a task, take your time. Pay careful attention to what you are doing and do it in the way of whomever you have in mind as a mentor or role model.
The bottom line is that you do have a purpose to be here on earth and you can live with a purpose regardless of what talents or skills you do or don’t have. You can choose to be good at something. Give it a shot. Tomorrow, when you go to work, pretend you are someone else. Seriously, give it a try. Pretend you are Einstein, or pretend that you are the worlds best at whatever it is that you do. Start mimicing the qualities that you envision it takes to perform something well. And then, watch out. You just might become a high performer. All it takes is a sense of importance, deciding to live with purpose, and a little imagination.
