Google’s pagerank mimics life. While google’s search engine is based on a very sophisticated algorithm, a part of what can make a website successful is pagerank. Pagerank is an attribute within that algorithm that determines where your site will rank among certain keyword searches. For those you that might be reading this that aren’t familiar with pagerank, pagerank is a weight, or score, from 0 to 10 that a website is assigned with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the most significant. I’ve never seen a website other than google ranked at a 10. So basically, a score from 0 to 9 is assigned to any other website. The higher your rank, the more likely your site comes up in searches, which equates to more traffic, which then equates to possibly more money. Having backlinks from other high ranked websites, transfers power to yours. Meaning, you could have backlinks from a 1000 sites that all have a pagerank of 2, or you could have a website with only one backlink from one site with a pagerank of 9. The website with only one link from a pagerank 9 site will rank higher than another site if you had thousands of backlinks from a thousand pagerank 2 sites. The amount of traffic you receive and the age of your site can also play a role in how your site is ranked as well.
A lot of you that are already familiar with this have probably already had this thought, but google’s search engine algorithm mimics life. Basically, in life, we are born with a pagerank. Some of us are born with a pagerank of 0, and some of us are born with a pagerank of 9. If you are born with a pagerank of 10, then that means you were born into an international banking family. But that is another article for another time. So in short, someone that is a director or a president of a corporation was born with a high pagerank. This doesn’t mean that they were born with intelligence or talent, what it means is they were born into a family that has connections or other family members and friends with high society status. Being a president, vice president, director, CEO, or a board member of a corporation are positions reserved for certain people. Although some of the people in these positions might even have an Ivy League education with advanced degrees, it’s only because they knew where they were going before they even got the degree. It’s a lot easier to be motivated enough to get an advanced degree in college if you already know that there is a high paid position at some corporation waiting for you because your father is best friends with a president of an investment firm that owns large amounts of shares within that particular corporation that you will be hired at. Most of these people in these types of positions do not carry any more intelligence than the average person.
So, having backlinks from highly ranked websites, will make your website a highly ranked site as well. Having “backlinks” from highly ranked people in society, will automatically give you a high rank as well no matter how much of an idiot you are. There are tons of websites that I have seen that have no information on them and are completely worthless, but yet they will receive high amounts of traffic because the owner of the site happens to have a “friend” that owns a highly ranked website that gives them a free backlink. That’s all it takes. That’s how worthless websites with no content make it to the top. And that is how worthless people with no content make it to the top as well.
Now google’s pagerank selection can be very complex. You might be receiving a one-way link from a site that has a one-way link from another site that has a one-way link from a highly ranked site. The connections are usually never very obvious. The connections in life aren’t ever very obvious either. For example, I knew of someone that became a superintendent of a catholic school district even though he wasn’t really the sharpest crayon in the box. Coincidently, he happens to have a family member that is a highly ranked member of the local media. The connection isn’t obvious to most people because most people do not understand that the diocese that the schools are within are deathly afraid of the media and do not want to be attacked by the media. So basically, someone ends up with a six figure position even though there were probably some PhD level individuals with great ideas and talent that applied for the same position. Someone else got the position because he had pagerank. This is an example of a rather indirect high pagerank.
It is very possible for someone born with no pagerank to obtain a higher pagerank through life. This can be done through very hard work, persistence, some talent, and rubbing elbows with people that do have high pagerank. For example, if I were to become good buddies with the vice president of the corporation I work for, that might give me a “leg in” to an opening of a middle level management position with my company. Not a guarantee, but it would give me a better chance than if I were to go back to school to obtain an MBA and then apply for that same position without being “buddies” with the vice president.
Although it might sound like it, the whole point of this article isn’t to whine and complain about the connections that other people have or how other people have it easier than others in life. But rather as a way to point out a perfect model of how life is. If you want some answers or direction in life, one only need to understand and study google’s algorithm. Understanding their algorithm can help you understand some of the things that happen in life that you do not understand and can also help you make decisions in your life that can maximize your success. Some people already have a natural ability to apply this algorithm within their life without knowing it; some of us need to learn it. But it can create some shortcuts for some of us and also ease some of the confusion as well. So next time you end up working for some middle level management dope that is a complete idiot that has no idea what your actual job function is or could not do it himself, just think of google’s pagerank system and that might answer your question of how that person got their job with such substandard intelligence.
