Gaining Muscle Mass Naturally
One of my previous articles revealed one secret (that really is no secret) to packing on more muscle mass the natural way: Deep Breathing Squats. It’s definitely no easy way out and will turn boys into men if done correctly without cheating. If you haven’t read that particular article I wrote, here’s the link.
Now, do you want to add to that? Remember me mentioning in the article on Deep Breathing Squats that the human body is much more sensitive than we realize? Well, it really is, and in ways that science doesn’t even understand yet.
There was a study performed with 2 groups of people that had already been training for years. These weren’t beginners that were going to see results immediately. They put each group through the same intense weight training session as the other. The control group ingested high quality protein 1 – 2 hours after working out. The experimental group had to ingest their high quality protein within 10 minutes after working out. Come to find out, the group that ingested protein 2 hours later, had absolutely no gains rendering their workouts worthless. The group that ate protein (> 10 grams) made obvious gains.
This was an actual study that was performed and written about several years ago. But what I had learned from it was that the human body is so sensitive, that once you perform an exercise that tears down any kind of muscle tissue, your body needs what it needs right then and there to begin rebuilding it. If your body does not get it right away, the muscle repair process is hindered. Even further more, there have been additional studies examining the effects of ingesting protein immediately BEFORE working out, rather than AFTER so that protein is available for your body to utilize during a workout.
What I do know, is that I have tested this one myself. I ingested Whey protein within 10 minutes of working out, and yes, I got a little thicker. It does work. I was able to do it because I was working out at home where I have an Olympic sized smith machine. As soon as I dropped the weights, I was able to run upstairs and mix my Whey protein shake. That’s the advantage of being able to work out at home. I find it very difficult to be able to do this at the gym. This is one disadvantage the gym has. You usually have to wait to go home to be able to eat anything decent other than a lousy sports nutrition bar (of which I avoid). And by then, it’s too late. So combine this tip with the Deep Breathing Squats, and you’ll love the results.
Next article, I’ll explore ways to getting high quality protein into the body immediately following a workout AT the gym.
