Throughout my career, I’ve know of several people that have been able to make a transition from working in a cube to starting their own companies of which are still running today.
How were these individuals able to accomplish this? Afterall, I’m sure a lot of you out there would love to be able to leave the corporate world and work for yourself one day. In all of the cases I’ve seen, the people that started their own companies were able to do so simply because they had connections. Meaning, they were in tight with other individuals that worked at other companies as managers or directors that were willing to outsource contracts to them. Of course they started small, but one contract led to another and then another, until they were able to actually hire employees and lease office space to actually form a full blown private company….
