Part I: How I Would Rule the World
If I were asked for a blueprint of how to take over the entire world, how would I do it? Well, if you are interested in ruling the world one day, here is a blueprint of how one might go about it.
This will be a series of articles broken up into parts. This first part will be the beginning of the series of how to rule the world. These articles are more of an analogy, or a non-fictional collection that mirror world history, current events, and future world events to come.
Influence
In order to be able to do anything at all, I would need something that I could influence people with, or use as incentive to persuade people to do what I want them to do the same way I could get a dog to come to me if I held out a piece of meat in my hand. Since I don’t have an army of soldiers behind me to physically force people into submission, I would need to do it another way. And then maybe later on down the road I will have an army of soldiers. So, the first thing I would need in order to do this would be money, or gold. Human beings are the only mammals on earth that exchange precious items in exchange for goods and services for survival. What I would need to do is accumulate as much of that precious material as I possibly can so then I can influence humans the same way I could influence a dog with food. Let’s say gold is that precious material.
I guess the quickest way to accumulate enough gold in order to have more gold than most of the people combined is simply have everyone give you their gold. Yea, right! How would I do that!? Well, knowing how dangerous it is to keep gold inside one’s home or walk around with gold in my pockets knowing that there are people in this world that would rob or kill you for it, I would offer the general public a service. What I would do is have a storage facility built where everyone can store their gold at so they don’t have to walk around with it or keep it inside their home. This would increase one’s safety from being robbed or killed and yet alone from even having to walk around hauling large amounts of gold which can become quite heavy. So I would have a storage facility built, and I would have it guarded by soldiers that are paid to keep anyone from robbing my facility. I would market this idea to people, and people would flock to my facility that is heavily guarded by soldiers so their gold can be kept safe. I would call this facility a bank. Now, let’s assume that I am a very intelligent person that is already part of a noble class, or have used my intelligence to acquire my own wealth, I already have some of my own capital to get a facility built and start paying people to guard it. At least initially long enough so that my idea catches on quickly.
At this bank, when people come to deposit their gold with me, I would give them paper certificates indicating how much gold that they have stored with me. Each certificate could represent one ounce of gold for example. My hope would be that eventually the trend catches on and everyone within the town or city that I live in would bring their gold to me in exchange for some of my paper certificates. And once this happens, hopefully people will just begin to exchange the paper certificates amongst one another rather than coming back to the bank to exchange the certificates for gold and then trading the gold. So basically, those paper certificates that my bank produces will pretty much become as good as gold itself and would be agreed upon by the population for use as money or currency.
So does this give me more money than everyone? Not quite yet. Afterall, all the gold within my bank that is heavily guarded still does belong to other people. I couldn’t use it as my own. At least not yet anyways. So how could I start using all of this gold in my bank as my own? What I would want to have happen is to have so many people store their gold at my bank, that I always have tons of it stored in my facility at all times. This would happen as a result of the paper certificates. Most people would stop coming in to actually retrieve their gold since they have certificates which are much easier to exchange and carry around. So I would always have a huge reserve within my bank that would always be there since thousands and thousands of people store gold at my bank. In fact, I would have to start building more banks since there would be so much gold to store. So my next plan would be to start using that gold for myself and start printing up additional paper certificates that I could use in the form of loans that I could make to people that need to have money in advance. Technically, these additional certificates wouldn’t actually have gold backing them, but since I always have so much gold in reserves because very few people ever come in to exchange their certificates for the gold, I would simply use part of the reserves to back the additional certificates with. Sounds very underhanded, but who would ever know?! It would be my own little secret.
Since I am going to print up additional certificates to use as loans to people, I would definitely want something in return. What I would want is to simply charge interest on the loans that I give out. So if I give out 4 paper certificates to someone which represents 4 ounces of gold, they better either pay me back with 5 paper certificates, or 5 ounces of pure gold. The gold they give me could come from additional gold that is being mined and still being exchanged within the community, or the extra paper certificate they give would simply come from someone else. That extra paper certificate, or extra ounce of gold that comes back in would then become all mine. The beauty of it is that I made an extra ounce of gold for myself and I didn’t even have to perform any work for it. I could then start using all the extra notes to extend more loans to people.
However, there would be a downside to this. Something called “inflation” would occur. Meaning eventually there would be too many paper notes in circulation. People might start to take notice of that and become worried that the notes are too easy to obtain and then they might make a run on my bank to exchange all of their notes for the gold that I have. I simply wouldn’t be able to cover all the notes because there would be much more notes than gold within my facility. I would try to prevent this one of several ways. First I would limit the amount of gold that someone could withdrawal at one time. That would help with keeping a reserve within my facility at all times. I would also start charging more interest on the loans that I give out to help limit the amount of people coming in asking for loans. I would also print up more paper notes and use those notes to start my own mining business so I could mine more gold to put in my facility.
So now I have tons of gold within a building that I own that I can use as my own. I can basically print my own money. I can start using that money to influence people and government so I can gain more wealth, power, and control. This is only the beginning of my blueprint of how to take over the world. Just the tip of the iceberg. But I will not be able to implement any of the rest of my blueprint without it. There will be plenty of work left to do and many obstacles to overcome, so stay tuned for Part II of: How I Would Rule the World.
