Addiction

We all know there is something that has it’s grip around us very tight.   So tight, that is just completely keeps us from achieving or maintaining the fitness level that a lot of us desire to have.   And yes, it’s no mystery, we’ve all heard it before……..it’s sugar.

But why write about it?  Everyone already knows it.  It would just be another boring article to overlook.  Well, that depends.   This article can become more interesting if it can give you a point of view that you have yet to come to realize.  I’m sure there are a lot of you out there that have, but from what I see and hear every day, I’m pretty sure a lot of people just don’t get it.

In becoming more fit, a lot of people have to change their point of view in what it is they eat in regards to sugar.  People need to come to a better realization of what role it plays in society.

Sugar has made a lot of people very financially rich.  Especially refined sugars.   Refined sugars are even worse because during the refining process all the nutrients are stripped out.  This leaves a bleached white potent form of sugar.  Selling sugar based food products ranks right up there with selling cocaine.  But that is just my opinion.  Being that sugar has found its way in our food chain, it is sold as if it is food and it accepted in society when in fact it probably should be illegalized to some extent.  Sugar creates an addiction.   A drug- like addiction.

Some of us might find ourselves driving around, or looking throughout the isles at a grocery store looking for something sweet to buy so we can get our “fix”.  This is the same thing that a drug addict does.

Depending on the individual, refined sugars can wreak havoc on one’s system.  It can interfere with the body’s absorption of valuable nutrients.  It can cause auto-immune responses within the body.  It can create mood swings, especially if one’s brain is going through sugar withdraw. And of course, it can have a significant impact on the the amount of fat a person carries.

Unfortunately, most of us were born into this world sugar addicts.  Our mothers ate refined sugar based foods, essentially turning us into “sugar babies”.   Which in turn keeps the “dope dealers” that put this stuff into our foods rich, and you fat.   Breaking the addiction is the first step in becoming fit.   There are plenty of articles out on the net explaining what sugar really is and the health hazards involved with it.  Sometimes, it’s developing a different perception towards something that can help pave the way through a road block getting you closer to your goal.
